The Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) in Dublin City, is an institution dedicated to developing, affirming and challenging the public's appreciation and understanding of traditional and innovative approaches to the visual arts.
The Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) is an artist based and artist orientated institution dedicated to developing, affirming and challenging the public's appreciation and understanding of traditional and innovative approaches to the visual arts. The Academy achieves its objectives through its exhibition, education and collection programmes.
The RHA is found in Dublin City a short walk from the National Art Gallery and Merrion Square and has five galleries. Three on the first floor are dedicated to curated exhibitions of Irish and international art. The Ashford Gallery is situated on the ground floor,and is a service to artists who do not have commercial representation in Dublin; it is designed to introduce artists to the collecting public and prove their commercial viability. On the ground floor there is also the Dr Tony Ryan Gallery, which is dedicated to showing private and public collections, including from time to time selections from the RHA Collection.
The RHA have the longest running annual open submission exhibition in the country. With over half the works, exhibited, selected through an open submission process, this exhibition offers an unparalleled chance to view the work by emerging artists hanging side by side with established artists and RHA Members. The majority of work on exhibit is for sale and it is an excellent opportunity for discerning collectors.
