The Black Rock is situated under the 'guns' of Bantry House in West Cork on the main road. It is where ships journeying to the Americas and West Indies, berthed during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
Situated under the 'guns' of Bantry House on the main roadway is the location known as the Black Rock(now a disused bathing box).
This was where all the sailing ships, as well as those journeying to the Americas and West Indies, berthed during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Some of the stone steps descending to the timber platform can still be seen today.
