Ireland's oldest synoptic weather station is a few minutes from Cahersiveen town on the Waterville road. Weather observations are made each hour, and transmitted to Dublin by telex, for processing and onward distribution, on the international communications circuits. Many historic instruments originally used, are on display at the Observatory (viewing by appointment).
