Maynooth Castle is a great stone castle which was founded in the early 13th century and became the principal residence of the Kildare branch of the Geraldines. It is located in Maynooth, County Kildare. Open Mid May to late September.

The Kildare Fitzgerald's emerged as one of the most power families in Ireland with Maynooth Castle being one of the largest and richest Earl's houses. The original Keep, constructed c.1203, was one of the largest of its kind in Ireland. Maynooth Castle provides an impressive entrance for Maynooth College, which was founded in 1795 and is famous for the education of the Irish Catholic priests.

The castle is in ruins and only the ruins of the keep and the main entrance gateway on the southern side remain. An exhibition on the history of the Fitzgerald family and the castle is housed in the visitor centre on site.
