Explore this magnificent plantation of over 4000 trees and shrubs dedicated to John F. Kennedy, the famous Irish-American U.S President. The Arboretum is located in New Ross, County Wexford and is over 600 acres.
John F. Kennedy Memorial Park 623 acres is dedicated to the memory of U.S. President John F. Kennedy and located near New Ross in County Wexford. It contains over 500 different rhododendron and azaleas, an internationally important collection of over 4000 different trees and shrubs, some of which are very rare, and a small islet-studded lake, home to large numbers of mallard, moorhen and rudd. A magnolia collection nearby has some outstanding specimens.
The forest plots are divided into areas containing trees from each of the five continents.
The Memorial Park includes woodland walks, playground, tree houses, lake with ducks and fish to feed. A miniature train and a pony and trap operate during high season. Six different counties can be seen from the spectacular viewing points on Slieve Coillte. Group guided walks are provided by arrangement.
There is a shop and a café on site with an adjoining picnic area and toilets. Dogs are welcome, however must be on a lead.
Admission to OPW sites is free on the first Wednesday of every month until the end of 2013.
