The Mountmellick Museum is located in a refurbished grain mill built in 1830 on a four acre site overlooking the Owenass River, in Mountmellick County Laois. It is dedicated to showcasing Mountmellick's rich Quaker industrial past.

The main focus of the Mountmellick Museum, in County Laois, is to conserve and display the original pieces of Mountmellick's rich Quaker industrial past. The original embroidery designs on show at the museum were created in 1825 and were inspired by the flora and fauna on the banks of the River Owenass.

Mountmellick Embroidery is unique as it is the only form of white on white embroidery from the Nineteenth Century which can claim to be entirely Irish in origin and design. It began in 1825 when there was a world wide revival in embroidery and lace making.

At the Mountmellick Museum and Conference Centre you will discover the ideal venue for your business event. Surrounded by wonderful scenery and situated in the midlands of Ireland, the museum is the perfect attraction for passing visitors or holiday makers in the area.
