Imagine Arts Festival 2015 is an exciting multi-disciplinary festival that promotes the best of local arts mixed with top national and international work.
Imagine Arts Festival 2015 is an exciting multi-disciplinary festival that promotes the best of local arts mixed with top national and international work. Now in its 14th year, the festival offers unique events, an intimate experience and a friendly welcome to all. Run by a voluntary committee, Imagine Arts Festival aims to show off Waterford's creative and artistic talent and its rich architectural heritage by staging events in interesting venues, always topical, fun and artistically very stimulating.
Each year, exciting new work emerges locally in theatre, dance, film and visual art and a lot of exciting names can be found in the programme.
Highlights for 2015 include:
John Dwyer Trad Music Weekend: Danu, John Dwyer & friends, Citywide Session Trail and Midnight festival Clubs.
Spoken Word: John Banville, Paul Durcan, Eddie Linehan, John Loneragan.
Live Music: Martin Simpson (UK), This is the Kit (UK) Adrian Crowley, Zaide Quartet, Waterford Concert Orchestra, Café Culture.
Theatre: Da by Hugh Leonard, Blue raincoat theatre present Playboy of the Western world, Kitty in the Lane by Aine Ryan, Somebody & Nobody by Ian Wild, The Staff Room by Jamie Flynn.
History & Heritage Series: to include talks on Brehon Laws, Piracy & Capital Punishment in Ireland.
Children & Family events: Theatre, Storytelling, Workshops, Parade of Light, Come Fly a Kite Spectacular.
Visual Art: Exhibitions by Pat Murphy, Tony Pilbro, Visual Arts Trail of 20+ artist exhibitions.
Dance: Fusion contemporary Dance, Re-imagining Beckett, Youth Dance Celebration.
Film:– The Swimmer, Down The Town, The Empty Chair.
