A celebration of the island's maritime heritage with seafood tasting, boat trips to Achill's offshore secrets and lots more. It is a fun filled weekend for all the family.
The Féile Na Mara festival celebrates the rich harvest and maritime heritage of Achill Island. Achill, located off the West Coast of Ireland and surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean, provides the ideal backdrop for a festival to celebrate maritime culture.
The festival programme is varied, allowing for both visitors and locals alike to participate. From boat trips & yawl races to a harbour market selling freshly caught local fish and seafood from the Atlantic, there is something for everyone. Freshly caught fish is always a staple on the menus of the island's dining establishments or there is always the option to catch and cook your own! Learn more about what is available to eat along the seashore by attending one of the foraging sessions.
There is an abundance of activities available for younger members of the family including a sandcastle building competition, arts & crafts and kite-flying demonstrations.
Events are spread throughout the island, encouraging the festival goer to partake in some sightseeing whilst attending the festival.
