Deadpan (1997), a short film, is a restaging of a Buster Keaton stunt in which a house collapses around McQueen, who is left unscathed because he is standing where there is a missing window.
Samuel Beckett adored Buster Keaton the actor and his comic genius in the silent movies. He cast and directed Keaton in his only film, titled FILM, which was shot in Manhattan.
Steve McQueen won The Turner Prize in 1999 for Deadpan and Drumroll. He received an Academy Award, a Bafta Award and a Golden Globe award for his 2013 film Twelve Years
A Slave. His 2008 feature film Hunger about the 1981 Hunger strike won the Cannes Film Festival Camera d’Or, Sydney Film Festival Prize and Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award.
