Otobong Nkanga has been exhibited widely, from Beirut to Berlin and Sydney to Sao Paulo. Now, she's coming to Temple Bar Gallery with her vivid and thoughtful art.
Otobong Nkanga is a fine artist with a truly startling eye for colour and detail. The Nigerian-born and Antwerp-based artist has been exhibited widely, all over the world, from Beirut to Berlin and Sydney to Sao Paulo.
Otobong works in a variety of media including drawings, installations, photography, sculpture and performance. She uses her unique experiences of the world in order to explore core facets of culture and society through her art.
This artist will be asking tough questions about the modern world as she settles into Temple Bar Gallery to make some new, pertinent work in collaboration with curator Caroline Hancock.
Offsetting the seriousness of Otobong’s thematic explorations will be the aesthetic of her artwork, vibrant and rich with meaningful motifs.
This is essential viewing for anybody serious about art.
