You are invited into Tracey's Irish Farmhouse Kitchen by the Shores of Strangford Lough in an 'area of outstanding natural beauty' half an hour from Belfast City Centre. Tracey lives in an 18th century thatched cottage which has been tastefully restored and is perfect for traditional Irish bread making.

This event will take place at The Stables, 52A Ballymorran road, Killinchy, BT23 6UD, County Down.

Upon arrival you will be offered a warm Irish welcome by Tracey. You will start with a cup of coffee or tea and some homemade sweet treats. Then you'll get started - aprons on and let's get baking!
What you'll make

The session starts with a traditional Irish Fruit Soda Cake. This is a sweet treat and delicious with lots of homemade Irish butter.

While the Fruit Soda Cake is baking in the stove oven, you will make some potato bread, or fadge as it gets called. You will add fillings of your choice to the potato mix - scallions or cheese. You will also make soda bread - Tracey's favourite! There are various alternatives for the soda bread - which you may or may not add as you please - treacle, currants and sultanas or cinnamon. Recipes may be varied to keep it interesting.

Traybakes are a typical sweet treat from Northern Ireland - they come from this area. You will make a delicious traybake which will be served with a nice strong coffee or cup of the local brew.

After you have kneaded, rolled, mixed and baked these breads and traybakes you will have a tasting session and another tea or coffee - with our award winning handmade butter, homemade jam, and dulse butter. This will be a feast, Irish style.
You will take home a bag filled with your handmade products and all of the recipes that were made in your day in Tracey's house.
