#MakeBelfastYours

Recently the Discover Ireland Nordics Facebook page was taken over by its fans. We wanted to make a travel itinerary to Belfast city curated by our fans that reflected what they would see & do during their time in Belfast. Below are all the sights, attractions and places to eat & drink decided by YOU our fans.

Day 1:

Morning:

We started off in the beautiful Belfast city centre bright and early. We asked all of our fantastic fans from our Tourism Ireland Nordics Twitter and Discover Ireland Nordics Facebook pages for suggestions on where to pick up some great coffee and breakfast. The suggestions were great and we went for the vibrant Café Conor which served us a breakfast of champions. Shortly after our breakfast we decided to have a walk around the nearby Queens University and Botanic gardens which are both stunning sights.

Afternoon:

For the afternoon we once again asked our fan’s for suggestions.  We decided to pay a visit to one of the most popular attractions on the island of Ireland the Titanic Belfast Museum. Titanic Belfast is a great experience and learning all about the famous ships history and the people involved was very special. As we picked up the White Star Pass we were also allowed entry into the SS Nomadic. Titanic Belfast is definitely a must see when in Belfast.

Day 2:

Morning:

After our first day in Belfast we were very excited for our second day in Northern Ireland. We started off the day with another delicious breakfast spot called Home Restaurant which served us some nice strong coffee with a smile.

Afternoon:

Shortly after we asked our fans on what to do next, the overwhelming suggestion was to take advantage of the easy to use Coca – Cola Zero Belfast Bikes to see this great city on two wheels. With over 30 docking stations across the city and at only £1 per hour we couldn't recommend them enough. After we explored a little more of the city we pedalled out to the really interesting Ulster Folk and Transport Museum which brings you back to life 100 years ago in a setting of cottages, farms, schools and old shops to explore.

Day 3:

Morning:

On our third day of #MakeBelfastYours we wanted to change things up a little and see what there was to explore outside Belfast City. We had two options and asked our fans to suggest either a Game of Thrones tour or a visit to the incredible geographical phenomenon of the Giants Causeway. We listened to our fans and decided to check out the Giants causeway which is only an hour and a half away from the city centre. We decided to hire a car for the day from our friends at Payless Car Rental and when arrived at our destination we were very excited.

Evening:

After a great day out at the Giants Causeway we were ready for a big meal and to see what Belfast’s nightlife had to offer. We had some delicious food at the famous St. Georges Market right in the heart of the city. Once more we listened to our fans for some nightlife tips and we decided to check out the Commercial Court area and had a few drinks the in Duke of York pub. We had a great evening and as Belfast is famous for its music scene we heard some great buskers and had great craic with the locals.

Day 4:

As this was our last day we asked our fans for the final time for some tips. We started off the day with a Black Taxi Tour of the city. These tours are great as the drivers are all local and provide a great account of the city’s history past to present and a great way to see all the city’s fascinating murals. Shortly after this we visited the Crumlin Road Gaol which again took us through the city’s diverse history. As our final day came to a close we were again excited to check out more of the city’s great food scene. We popped into fan favourite James Street South which we can 100% recommend to visit. The restaurant also had a Swedish chef whose name is Carl so make sure to say hello on your visit.
