West Cork & Mizen Peninsula sightseeing tour begins with a stop in Gougan Barra, a beautiful parkland where the River Lee has its source and flows through the gaeltacht village of Ballingeary and on through Cork City. Next a stop at Bantry a vibrant town in West Cork, it sits along the shores of Bantry Bay, where nutrient rich waters from the Gulf Stream feed an Aqua Marine Industry, cultivating mussels and oysters.

This day tour continues through the villages of Durrus and Goleen, passing Crookhaven harbour, famous as First Land-Fall for vessels as they crossed the Atlantic bringing trade to Europe, this tour stops at Mizen Head Visitor Centre (charge). A breathtaking location, offering a little bit of everything that makes Ireland so beautiful. Sitting high on the cliffs with a magnificent rugged coastline and swirling Atlantic Ocean tides below. A wonderful exhibition includes a ships bridge simulator, Marconis' Morse Code, 10th scale model of the famous Fastnet Lighthouse and of course access to the headland, a spectacular walk along the cliff edge… Don’t Forget Your Camera !!

Leaving Mizen we retrace our steps for a few miles for a photograph of the Alter Wedge Tomb. There are a great number of these magnificent stone-age monuments dotted along the south west coast. They are referred to as the final expression of Neolithic stone-age building in Ireland. From here its back to Cork City, first a stop in Clonakilty, a charming town in the heart of West Cork.

A relaxing walk or maybe a cup of coffee or maybe a visit (charge) to the newly restored Michael Collins House Museum. This offers an insight into his life and will also offer a visitor a view of what the house was like in its Georgian splendour. Returning to Cork for approx. 6pm.
