Ride Wild 2014 Week 5 - Finnish Blogger Satu has completed her incredible 2,500km Wild Atlantic Way cycle .

After 5 weeks and a 2,500km heroic cycle of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, Finnish Blogger Satu Vänskä-Westgarth has finally completed Ride Wild 2014. From relentless rolling hills, the beautiful beaches, scenery and most memorable of all the people Satu has now departed Irish shores back to her family in Norway.

Satu at the finish line.

The Wild Atlantic Way is the world’s longest defined coastal route and takes in some of the most stunning and dramatic scenery Ireland can offer. Satu has now completed her incredible cycle along the 2,500km stretch of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way and crossed the finish line in Kinsale, County Cork to a great celebration.

At the beginning of the final week Satu had set her targets on the finish line in Kinsale , County Cork as she left behind the beauty of Kenmare and the Ring of Kerry. As like the previous 4 weeks of Ride Wild 2014 week 5 continued to provide Satu and friends with some difficult hills, mountain style climbs, marvelling crashing waves in the sunset and a smooth ride on Ireland’s only cable car to the island of Dursey.

As ever Satu displayed her Finnish charm with the locals in proudly sporting a Cork GAA jersey but sadly had no time to pick up a hurl and sliotar but maybe next time.

On Friday September 5th Satu cycled her final few kilometres into the town of Kinsale escorted by the Cork Airport police and was greeted heroically to the finish line of Ride Wild 2014 where the Cork locals, county Mayor Alan Coleman, celebrity chef Martin Shanahan from Fishy Fishy and representatives from Kinsale tourism, kinsale chamber, Cork Airport, Failte Ireland and the Trident Hotel Kinsale clapped Satu across the line. Fashionably late Satu and friends tucked into some fine seafood platter and drinks with the locals upon arrival.

Ride Wild 2014 was a remarkable achievement by Satu and we would to say a big comhghairdeas (Irish for congratulations) to Satu and all of her fellow cyclist's involved.
