Attention trad music lovers!
Every summer, a host town on the island of Ireland welcomes musicians, dancers and performers from across the globe for a rip-roaring traditional music celebration. At Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, the world’s largest annual festival of Irish music, you can expect street performers, intimate concerts, big-name acts and over 150 competitions showcasing the very best of traditional music talent.

A musical homecoming
The Fleadh Cheoil first took place in Mullingar in County Westmeath in 1951, so it’s only fitting that after a two-year hiatus, the event returns to its roots in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands.
The competition is fierce with solo acts, duets, trios, groups, céilí bands, sean nós singing and dancing all in store. Some star acts include Martin Hayes, Sharon Shannon, The Bridge Céili Band, Daithí Gormley, Frankie Gavin and Catherine McHugh – to name a few.
This is your chance to really immerse yourself in Ireland’s musical heritage. Get your toes tapping at a traditional céilí dance, soak up the atmosphere of a trad session in a cosy pub or take in the delights of a street parade. You can even practice your ‘cúpla focal’ (few words) at an Irish language workshop or stop by a lecture or two.
