Fela Kuti's youngest son is the millennial's answer to Afrobeat.
Fela Kuti's youngest son Seun is the millennial's answer to Afrobeat – a pithy, underdog poet for the younger generation who is reshaping the much-loved genre invented by his late father (and sustained by his older brother Femi) with equal parts sex, chops and charisma.
Having performed alongside his father from a young age, Seun honed his skills as both soul man and warrior for justice, sharing the stage with Fela and the renowned Egypt 80 band right up until the time of his father's death when Seun was just 14. Like a boy king, Seun stepped into his father's shoes, becoming lead singer of the band and leading it in his own way. The result has been electric, the music tunnelling deeper into African culture and struggles while at the same time benefitting from the fizzy lightness the touch of youth bestows.
