McGuire's Self-Catering are Three Star Fáilte Ireland approved cottages, all come with historic half-door, open hearth fire and flag stone floor. In contrast to this taste of the past, each also has all the modern conveniences of present day living.
Owned by Sinead and Pascal Gillard, the cottages have individual personalised names which add to the wonderful sense of character. McGuire's Self-Catering are a complex of seven cottages built in in the late seventies. These detached, traditional style cottages all come with a historic half-door, open hearth fire and flag stone floor. The cottages overlook the picturesque Acres Lake, approximately 1 km from the village of Drumshanbo in Leitrim.
Guests of McGuire's Self-Catering Cottages are blessed most mornings to be awoken by the aromas of fresh baking wafting through the air from Jinny's Bakery. The products range from healthy brown breads, scone and luxury carrot cake, which has won awards including Gold Stars in the prestigious Great Taste Awards and Best of Ireland Bridgestone Awards.
McGuire's Self-Catering Cottages welcomes fishing enthusiasts and offers onsite angling facilities including a fisherman's bait room, launderette, boats for hire, bait ordering service and organised briefings by a local gillie/angling guide. McGuire's Self-Catering Cottages have been catering for both individual fishermen and large fishing groups for over 20 years.
A family break at McGuire's Self-Catering Cottages promises to be fun filled and action packed with a huge selection of outdoor activities available in the area for families and groups of all ages.
Outdoor activities include; Electric Bike Trials, Guided Tours and Bike Hire, Swimming in the heated outdoor pool in Drumshanbo (June to September).
Also available in the area is Horse Riding and Tennis Courts which are beside the cottages and a public playground. There is also the Marble Arch Caves, one of Europe's finest show caves and allows visitors to explore the fascinating, natural underworld of rivers, waterfalls, winding passages and lofty chambers.
