If you like the idea of camping and getting close to nature, but don’t want to give up some of the luxuries of a hotel, glamping – short for glamorous camping – could be for you. You get to stay in a tent or cosy pod in the outdoors, but you still have a proper bed with pillows and a duvet, electricity, access to a bathroom and of course scenic views.
Ireland is perfect for glamping as there are so many options – you can escape to an island or a lakeside haven, glamp in the grounds of a castle, a farm or a country manor and sleep in everything from a safari tent to a shepherd’s hut or a forest bubble. We’ve picked some favourite glamping spots around Ireland to give you inspiration when planning your next glamping trip.
Go mbeidh an fórsa leat! — May the force be with you!

Wild Atlantic Camp, County Donegal
Bell tents, glamping villas, pods and chic cabins with clear walls are some of the cosy offerings at Wild Atlantic Camp which has views down to Donegal’s stunning Sheephaven Bay, a sheltered inlet between Horn Head and the Rosguill Peninsula. Doe Castle and some of Donegal’s best beaches are nearby, and Glenveagh National Park and Ards Forest Park are both within easy reach for daytrips and picnics. On site, there’s a playground, tennis court, pitch and putt and an AstroTurf pitch.

Hidden Valley, County Wicklow
In the heart of the County Wicklow countryside, Hidden Valley Holiday Park is great for family members of all ages – with adventures on site such as an aqua park, laser tag, kayaking, fishing, an adventure park for kids and cinema nights. The glamping options include lodges which sleep five or six, and the site is all geared to families rather than groups (with a noise curfew). It’s also a short drive to Glendalough and Wicklow Mountains National Park or the golden dunes of Brittas Bay.

Ballyvolane House, County Cork
