Waterford Music Series presents The Saltarello Trio as one of eight evening concerts by a variety of Irish & internationally renowned musicians to be held in the Large Room, City Hall Waterford from September 2019 to April 2020.
Waterford Music was founded in June 1942 for the promotion of chamber music, supporting local artists and inviting distinguished artists from worldwide to perform at Waterford’s Georgian Large Room, City Hall. Today it presents eight chamber music concerts during each season from September to April.
In this concert the lively Saltarello trio capture the colours and textures of folk music to inform their witty arrangements, highlighting connections and similarities that exist between soundworlds of today and of hundreds of years ago. The trio’s gorgeous swirling string lines and tasty percussion open a new window on old music, proving that a good tune can speak easily to all of us, no matter what the language, no matter when the time.
