Steven Van Zandt has had a truly unbelievable career both on stage and in front of the camera.
The Disciples of Soul are an ongoing musical project of Steven Van Zandt, a man who has had a truly unbelievable career both on stage and in front of the camera.
He is probably best known as the guitar player of Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street Band, where he was known as “Miami” Steve, even though he too hailed from New Jersey. He joined the E-Street band in 1975 and has performed with them consistently since.
The second part of his career began in 1999 when, despite practically no acting experience, he landed the role of Silvio Dante in seminal HBO drama, Sopranos.
He has always displayed an enduring love of soul music and old school rock’n’roll whether in his bands, his record label Wicked Cool Records, or his syndicated radio show, Little Steven’s Underground Garage.
The Disciples of Soul began way back in 1981 while Bruce Springsteen was working on his acoustic solo record, Nebraska, and they have operated on and off since then. They perform covers of classic soul and garage rock with the gusto of men and women who are half their age.
A legitimate hero of the era, this will be a real treat for fans of old school rock’n’roll music.
