The Playtrail is an outdoor play & educational resource.
The Playtrail is a unique outdoor play & educational resource that includes three significant, inclusive play areas, a covered 200 seater amphitheatre space/outdoor cinema, a woodland walk through the enchanting ‘Fairy Woods’ and a large community allotment scheme.
It includes a number of inclusive pieces of play equipment and a fully accessible trail network.
The Playtrail is animated throughout the year with a range of child friendly programmes & projects that promote independence, celebrates diversity and encourages inclusion. These include an ongoing Forest School programme, an annual Haunted Trail at Halloween, an interactive Christmas experience, an Easter Saturday Egg Hunt and numerous summer programmes. The project hosts schools, community groups and visitors from throughout the North west and beyond. It is also an award winning children’s birthday party venue.
The Playtrail is also the home of the Big Lottery funded ACT Project, a transition project working with young adults with learning disabilities. This project seeks to increase independence & promote increased levels of community engagement & access. This project includes the development of a Fab: Farm in partnership with the innovative Nerve Centre. The Fab: Farm is an Aquaponics project utilising the marriage of fish & water to grow a range of salad veg for the local market. We hope to have the first system up & running by August 2017.
The Playtrail welcomes interest from a range of individuals and groups and is happy to deal with any & all enquiries.
