Various Venues, Rathmullan, Donegal,

The Rathmullan Film Festival is back in February with its quirky venues, all ages programme and stunning setting.

Established in 2018, the Rathmullan Film Festival is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit, participatory festival located in the seaside village of Rathmmulan, Co. Donegal. Dates for 2020 are 20-23 February.

In three short years, the Rathmullan Film Festival has become a mid-term break favourite, packed with great films, workshops and creative classes for all ages. The festival is a gift from the community with local schools, restaurants, churches, and bars organising and hosting the screenings and activities.

Events include family and feature films, thought-provoking documentaries as well as guided walks through the village, Claymation classes, kickboxing clinics, live music and sing-alongs – the four-day festival has something for everyone.

Last year, the festival drew families both locally and from all over Ireland who came to holiday in Rathmullan during the film festival. Events either sold out or only had a few tickets to spare – it is a brilliant addition to Rathmullan’s great events calendar.

Full-length feature films include: Disney’s Pinocchio (1940) and Mulan (1998), the stop motion classic Chicken Run (2000), Under the Cherry Moon (1986) directed by and starring Prince, Isle of Dogs (2018) featuring stop motion and animation, Julie Taymor’s bio film, Frida (2002), the all-time classic Casablanca (1942) and the silent German Expressionist film, Nosferatu (1922). The festival also offers a broad range of films including documentaries, shorts and films shot on smartphones.
