Carlingford Marina is a welcoming safe haven for visitors by land and by sea. The 170 berth marina is tucked away on the Southern Shore of Carlingford Lough, protected by The Cooley Mountains and Mountains of Mourne either side.

Carlingford Marina is located in the picturesque inlet on the East Coast of Ireland, Carlingford Lough. It comprises of 170 floating berths, protected by break waters to the North, West and South. Carlingford Marina began its life back in 1986 as a private venture by a group of local yachtsmen, and has developed steadily since then.

In the early 90’s the northern breakwater and southern temporary breakwater were constructed, along with a network of pontoons that accommodated up to 80 boats. Major developments happened just over a decade later when the southern breakwater was finished, more than doubling the size of the marina basin. At the same time, work began on many of the shore based facilities. The first building to go up was the state of the art Bar and Restaurant. The building itself is perched on the rock armour looking out over the marina, and offers panoramic views of Carlingford Lough and the Cooley and Mourne Mountains either side.

Sitar Cafe Bar and Indian Cuisine is a new franchise to the Carlingford Marina complex that launched in the summer of 2016. Already it has collected a plethora of very complementary reviews from its customers, with people travelling from far and wide to taste the food and soak up the atmosphere.

Later developed were the Carlingford Marina Self-Catering Apartments. Each apartment can sleep up to five people, and has its own kitchen, dining area, bathroom and living room. All the comforts you might need to make a home away from home. The apartments have grown to be very popular and have become a top choice for families, crews and large groups travelling together.

In recent years, the development of the Carlingford Omeath Greenway has opened up the marina for a whole new company of visitors. Completed in July of 2014, the greenway is now enjoyed by an increasingly enthusiastic community who walk, cycle or jog from Carlingford Marina, six and a half kilometres along the coast to Omeath.

The marina is now firmly established on the cruising routes of the Irish Sea. Dublin, Strangford Lough, Belfast, The Isle of Man and some parts of England’s West Coast are all within a day’s sail of Carlingford. The Lough itself provides good sailing and makes Carlingford not only an ideal place to cruise to, but also an ideal place for families, beginners and racing enthusiasts to settle permanently.
