See what Ireland has in store for you
Burren Walks take visitors on a guided walk that captures the beautiful landscape of the Burren. The Burren, on the Wild Atlantic Way, is a region of exposed broken limestone pavement or karst, covering an area of 250km² which formed 250 million years ago, as the floor of a shallow tropical sea near the Equator. Today, sitting on Ireland’s west coast, the landscape looks barren with exposed limestone pavement but hiding in the cracks and in various habitats is the most wonderful array of flora in Ireland. The experienced Burren Walks guide will point out the wildflowers, Artic, Alpine and Mediterranean, growing side by side and other flora that the Burren is famed for. Paul will also explain the geology of the Burren and its formation in that tropical ocean. The guided walks will explore how both man and nature has shaped the Burren and created the limestone landscape seen today. Scheduled walks take place from Easter to mid June and visitors are welcome to join. Burren Walks also offer the option of tailored group walks and private tours for smaller numbers. If holidaying in the west of Ireland or travelling along the Wild Atlantic Way, be sure to include a walk in the Burren and enjoy this spectacular landscape. Paul from Burren Walks can make any visit much more meaningful and insightful. Paul’s knowledge is extensive, having lectured in tourism in Atlantic Technical University for 25 years and leading guided walks for almost 20 years.
