Finnish Blogger Satu Vänskä-Westgarth is well on her way along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way and has spent Week 2 of Ride Wild 2014 in one of Ireland's most beautiful areas County Mayo. Lessons have been learnt from Week 1 and now the emphasis is not just to cycle the Wild Atlantic Way but to more importantly experience it.
The Wild Atlantic Way is the world’s longest defined coastal route and takes in some of the most stunning and dramatic scenery Ireland can offer. Satu is well on her way of cycling this magnificent coastline.
Leaving behind the slightly meaner mountains of Donegal last week and with a quick stop in Sligo, Satu entered the territory of Pirate Queen Gráinne O’Malley Connaught which lead Satu in the beautiful Co.Mayo and Achill Island. Not so many hills here but many more kilometres were cycled and even a little bit of Irish was learned. Cycling was not the only form of exercise for Satu this week as the enthusiastic Finn took to Clew Bay for some kayaking which proved to be tiring but great fun. As like Week 1 a big part of #RideWild2014 has been to mingle with the locals and a night of dancing in Westport certainly did the trick. Read more about what else Satu got up to during Week 2 of #RideWild2014 on her blog here.
