Witness a punk institution in motion as Elvis Costello takes to the stage at Bord Gais Energy Theatre.
Elvis Costello is a punk institution. Perhaps not the spitting and punching kind of punk, but the kind who worked with notorious label Stiff Records in London and made an era-defining album in the shape of My Aim is True.
Elvis got his first taste of fame when he sang backing vocals on a song his father wrote and performed in an R. White Lemonade advert called I’m a Secret Lemonade Drinker. It wasn’t straight into the hall of fame for Elvis though, as he went on to work normal jobs while performing by night.
He caught the attention of Stiff Records and released Less Than Zero, followed by his debut studio album, My Aim is True, in 1977. He has continued to collaborate and appropriate other musical genres in order to create dazzlingly inventive, attention-grabbing music in true punk style.
Elvis has also had a long-standing working relationship with Paul McCartney as well as collaborating with the likes of Annie Lennox and Jenny Lewis.
Despite being active in the music industry for five decades, Elvis has not been one to rest on his laurels, which is why you should definitely check out his show this June.
