Curated by Ireland’s Mairead Hickey (violin), international musicians Stephen Waarts (USA), violin; Mate Bekavac (Slovenia) clarinet; Georgy Kovalev (Russia), viola, Ivan Karizna (Belarus) cello will be joined by Irish musicians, Killian White, cello, Séamus Hickey, viola and Ellen Jansson, piano.
Bringing Ortús 2020 Chamber Music Festival to a triumphant conclusion in the CIT Cork School of Music on Sunday 1st March at 15:00, the final concert will delight audiences with Irish born Garth Knox’ Pocket Concerto for viola and cello alongside a moving work by Syrian composer, Azmeh, which resonates with the tradition in Ireland of music’s abiding role in evoking memories of home. The grand finale will be Mozart’s beloved Clarinet Quintet, starring the stunning Slovenian clarinettist Mate Bekavac. A fantastic opportunity to be embraced by all!
