See what Ireland has in store for you
The eastern shore of Lough Foyle between Ballykelly and Roe Estuary offers a flat coastal walk along the sea wall. This linear route has a number of access points allowing visitors to walk the entire 8km route, or walk shorter sections should you wish. From the car park at Station Road, Ballykelly, follow the gravel track that runs behind the sea wall and Lough Foyle. After 3.5 kms the track climbs a short distance and turns sharp right to follow the bank of Burnfoot river or Broharris canal. Use the footbridge to cross the river to the Ballymacran side, turn left and follow the track past the bird hide as it hugs the sea wall, towards Myroe and the ‘horseshoe bends.’ The track continues on for a distance of 4.5kms towards the Roe Estuary. On reaching Roe Estuary (or any other point on the track) simply retrace your steps to the start point. Visitors can start or finish from the following locations; • Station Road, Ballykelly. • Carse Road, Broharris. • Ballymacran, Carrowclare Road. • Myroe, Shore Avenue.
