See what Ireland has in store for you
Each section of the Wild Atlantic Way makes for a beautiful cycle and for experienced cyclists you can opt to cycle the full route. The long distance cycle route from Galway to Westport takes in some of the most popular tourist towns along the Wild Atlantic Way. This region is renowned for its unspoilt beauty. On this 8-day trip you will visit lively towns, as well as cycling along quiet coastal roads. An impressive stop on the way is Kylemore Abbey; located in one of Ireland’s most unique landscapes. The abbey had very humble beginnings as a hunting and fishing lodge. As you approach Westport you will enjoy views of Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s ‘Holy Mountain’ and a traditional place of pilgrimage. With short cycling days, you will have time to explore some of the historic and cultural highlights of the tour, such as Clifden Castle, Killary Fjord and Westport town to mention just a few. On the route you will be cycling from 35 - 60 kms per day on a mixture terrains. Irelandways.com provide accommodation, luggage transfers, luggage tags and walking notes for all of their tours. See the website for a selection of the highly popular short hiking /cycling breaks that last about 4 days.
