Park Life Jogging Tour - Sight Jogging Dublin
- View as map
An alternative and fun way to see Dublin's Phoenix Park area while jogging with a local guide. Stay fit and healthy and see the sights. This is an up and close sightseeing experience for joggers of all levels.
For those sightjoggers who want that feeling of getting away from it all while staying close by the city, the park life tour provides you with the perfect escape.
The tour takes you to the Phoenix Park which at 707 hectares (1752 acres) is the largest urban park in Europe. Founded as a royal deer park in the 17th century, it is today an exercise hub for Dubliners and where the sightjogger can see Ireland’s unique traditional sports of Gaelic Football and Hurling in action amongst other sports such as Polo.
The Park Life tour passes the Irish President’s residence, a military fort, where a team of Irish men and women participated in one of the most significant insurgent events of the Rising ( Ireland’s independence rebellion) and a short demonstration of Ireland’s national field games while making sure the deer don’t join in.
Phoenix Park contains arguably the best natural facilities for distance running training in this city, as it has a continuous natural trail of some 16km. Also, to this day a herd of fallow deer continue to roam in the park and they can be seen around and grazing amongst the gaelic football pitches !
Note that the Park Life Tour runs on Sunday mornings only to make sure you catch a glimpse of Gaelic sports.
