Celtic Tales storytelling sessions with acclaimed author and storyteller Rab Fulton, is based in the Crane Bar.
In The Crane Bar in Galway City, men and woman from the four corners of the globe gather every Thursday to hear fairy tales for adults. By the light of two score and more candles, acclaimed author and storyteller Rab Fulton tells them Celtic Tales of terror, comedy, sorrow, lust, magic, ghosts, loss and temptation.
There are stories of joy and stories of terror, yet all the tales contain moments of hilarious comedy. As well as telling stories, Rab reads short extracts from his books, signed copies of which can be bought for a discount price.
Acclaim for his work includes:
"Captivating minds with faraway fables" - The Irish Times.
"Rab's zest for life and his talent of connecting with people definitely put him ahead of most storytellers" – ConnachtTribune
Many of the stories recount journeys of discovery, whether to the magical and perilous city beneath the waves of Galway Bay, or back in time to a pub, prison and hangman’s noose of 16th century London. There are journeys through woods, forests, shorelines and rivers all leading to either triumph or horror or sometimes both. Even the winding back roads of county Galway roll and twist towards strange and terrible revelations. The stories are peopled by villains, murderers, men in black, witches, priests, pagans, warriors, fisher folk, gamblers and schemers, murderers, organic cheese makers and love struck teenagers. Be warned, however, the stories are not suitable for younger children.
The storytelling sessions for 2019 take place from May 2nd to November 28th. However there are no shows on the 15th and 22nd of August.
