The Owenmore River drains a large area of north-west Mayo into Tullaghan Bay. The river holds spring fish from February. The grilse come in early June, and the river gets a good run of autumn fish from late August.
The Owenmore River gets a good run of sea trout frommid-June to the end of September. Fly fishing is permitted upstream of a line across the river from the juncture of the townlands of Goolamore and Tristia to the townland of Ballina. Much of the fishing is private and not let. A four-mile stretch in the middle reaches is leased by Bangor Sporting Club.
