Explore Belfast and its history with your own personal guided theatrical tour.
Come and walk the Streets of Belfast with us!
See Belfast’s history in a new light – brought to life as an interactive theatrical walking tour which guides you around two of our most famous streets, The Falls Road and The Shankill Road.
Created by Belfast based theatre company Kabosh and available now for the iPhone Streets of Belfast combines history, personal stories, photographs and recorded theatrical performances to create an immersive and unique guided tour of the Falls Road and the Shankill Road.
Kabosh is a Belfast based Theatre Company specialising in site specific theatre which takes place across Northern Ireland and further afield. We aim to reinvent the ways in which stories are told, commissioning new writing, devising work for site-specific environments and creating new ways for people to experience theatre and history through mobile technology.
Join us as you walk the historic roads of Belfast using the app as a tour guide, or explore the two roads from the comfort of your home. On the Falls Road you can visit the International Wall, Garden of Remembrance, the Bobby Sands Mural, see Conway Mill’s history brought to life with theatre and listen to local residents and tour guides tell you about the area. On the Shankill Road you can visit Nelson Square, Shankill Mission and see Shankill Library’s history through drama.
The theatrical performances, by local actors, portray key figures from history as well as everyday citizens. They were commissioned from local playwrights to animate the vibrant heritage of these unique areas of the city.
Streets of Belfast is available through the Apple App store on your phone today! We are offering the first three tour points of the Falls Road Tour as a free download with the full Falls Road and Shankill Road available as in-app purchases for 79p each.
The app was created by Kabosh Theatre Company in association with Failte Feirste Thair, Coiste, the Spectrum Centre, Shankill Women’s Centre, Shankill Area Social History group and Design Zoo along with multiple other community partners.
The project was supported by Belfast City Council’s Creative Legacies II programme, part of the Belfast Peace III Plan by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund and also through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s Creative Industry Fund along with other funders.
