Eight albums and 22 years on from her debut record, Dreamland, Madeleine Peyroux is still regarded as one of the great interpreters in contemporary jazz. Peyroux is playing the National Concert Hall having sold out The Olympia Theatre on her last visit to the city in February 2017.
Peyroux is touring in support of her new record, Anthem, will be released in summer 2018. Lyrically, Anthem is a reckoning with the turbulent political situation that emerged from the 2016 presidential election in the United States, and was co-written by Peyroux and Larry Klein.
Musically, she has worked with the well travelled team of keyboardist Patrick Warren, drummer Brian MacLeod, and guitarist David Baerwald, who formed the rest of the quintet playing on record.
Peyroux has always challenged the boundaries of her genre, interpreting compositions by the likes of Leonard Cohen and Elliott Smith, as well as integrating elements from contemporary music. A consummate performer, Peyroux will have National Concert Hall crowd rapt with her unique approach to jazz and song.
