The Teach Greannaí Diner & TakeAway is located in Cornboy in the heart of Erris, voted Best Place to Go Wild in Ireland. Featuring WiFi, great value home-cooked food and the best all-day breakfast in the West, there is something here for everyone!
The Teach Greannaí Diner is part of the vibrant Teach Greannaí community in the north Mayo barony of Erris, voted ‘Best Place to Go Wild in Ireland’ in an Irish Times 32-county competition in 2014. As well as a fine diner with restaurant license and free WiFi, Teach Greannaí has a laundry service and can provide a hot shower for weary hikers. The turf-fuelled stove in the diner offers a warm and cosy welcome. As a member of SafeNights Ireland we can accommodate up to 5 camper vans for overnight parking, in one of the most scenic areas of Ireland.
Teach Greannaí hosts several festivals over the year, with the biggest set for the annual August bank holiday weekend. Féile Fáilte Chill Chomáin is a chance to really go wild along with the friendly locals and many visitors to Erris in the summer. The festival boasts traditional Irish music and dancing, old-time races and competitions and lots of fun on giant inflatables. The festival finishes off with a currach boat race, open to all who wish to show off their rowing prowess on the wild Atlantic Ocean!
Our Lá Taispeántas Oighreachta (Vintage & Culture Day) is set for March and provides an opportunity to travel back in time to experience life in the ‘golden olden’ days, celebrating the old traditions and ways of life along the Wild Atlantic Way in north Mayo. Turn back the clock and see how things were done 100 years ago, from making ropes of straw to farming animals like sheep, goats, & chickens. See how food was prepared and cooked over an open fire. See a variety of displays, instruments, implements, machinery, tractors, cars and tools!
Féile na Cásca (Easter Festival) is a spring festival for all the family! A guided walk along the Clann Lir loop and Easter Sunday lunch is followed by entertainment. Children’s events include an Easter Egg Hunt, indoor and outdoor children’s activities, music, dance and song! Join in wild foraging expeditions along the seashore and top off the weekend with a festival dance.
Féile na Nollag (Christmas Festival) is an annual festival to start the Christmas season with lighting of the Christmas tree, carol singing, Dadai na Nollag, a Christmas variety show and a feast of festive food and entertainment.
In addition to our festivals, Teach Greannaí can organise group tours of Erris by boat along the rugged coast of the Wild Atlantic Way, and by bus for up to 18 people. Experience the breathtaking Staggs of Broadhaven, beautiful pristine beaches, megalithic court tombs and rare birds such as puffins and twites. Any tour would not be complete without refreshments at the Teach Greannaí Diner!
