On 15th and 16th September, walkers of all ages and all abilities have the chance to get outside and explore the beauty, history and heritage of the Sperrins and Killeter regions.

Walks are available at a variety of levels including easy strolls (perfect for families and budding nature photographers), moderate treks and challenging hill walks across some of the country's most dazzling landscapes. So whether you’re looking to get active, enjoy a family day out, unlock the hidden gems of the region or even raise money for your favorite charity, the Sperrins and Killeter Walking Festival provides the perfect opportunity to get outside and explore.

Saturday 15th September Glenelly- Strabane
Enjoy some of the finest walking and rambling, set against some of Ireland’s most spectacular and stunning scenery.

Events cater for all abilities of walkers from family & history walks, to moderate and challenging walks, all of which are guided by professional walking guides. Located in the picturesque village of Plumbridge, standing on the banks of the Glenelly River.

EASY ‘(4km) exploring Sperrins captivating Greenway

MODERATE ‘BALIX AND BEYOND’ (8km) natural heritage site – linking the area into Murlough, Hollyhill and Legfordrum

CHALLENGING ‘SAWEL CHALLENGE’ (12km) incorporating some of the highest peaks of the Sperrin’s

Sunday 16th September - Killeter
An exciting & unusual weekend of cross country hiking in one of Northern Ireland’s most remote and scenic landscapes.

On previous weekends Red Hare, Sparrow hawks, Peregrine Falcons, the Irish Otter have been spotted on our guided hikes. Experienced and knowledgeable local guides will also enlighten visiting walkers on the ecology, history and folklore of this wild and remote part of West Tyrone.

EASY ‘PILGRIM TRAIL’ (up to 6km) from Killeter Village to Magherakeel and St Patrick’s Well exploring the old route to Lough Derg

MODERATE ‘ (8km) TBC

CHALLENGING ‘The International Reach Of A Killeter Camino (12km) exploring the international heritage links to pilgrimage and its origin tying into the IAT and the Camino de Santiago.
