Visit the award winning Wicklow Brewery in the village of Redcross, with many craft beers. Take an intimate tour of the brewery followed by a social beer tasting in the beautiful beer-hall. Tours are daily at 14:00 and 17:00 (booking essential).
Wicklow Brewery is one of those rare things in Ireland – a micro-brewery with a licence to sell its own beer. The brewery is an offshoot of Mickey Finn’s pub in the sleepy village of Redcross in Wicklow, standing in what was formerly a bakery.
The ash wood that shapes the counter top in the beer-hall came from a tree that fell in the local graveyard, while the spring well that feeds their taps flows from deep beneath the brewery grounds.
There are seven beers on tap in the brew house: Wicklow Helles, St Kevin’s Red Ale, Wicklow Weiss, WB-40 IPA, Hop Knut Pale Ale, Ginger Knut Beer and Black 16 Stout. Although the brewery only brewed its first beer in September 2014 it has already won over 20 beer awards in International competitions.
Brewery Tours take place daily at 14:00 and 17:00 or by request for larger bookings. The tour is fun and intimate and you start with an audio-visual followed by a brewery tour and end with a tasting of the seven beers in the beer-hall.
Right across the courtyard from the brewery you can find Mickey Finn’s Pub.
