Lackagh Museum and Heritage Park
The Lackagh Museum, in Turloughmore County Mayo, is set in a restored traditional Irish cottage. Its golden thatched roof is the work of local crafts people.
The cottage, which now houses the Lackagh Museum in County Mayo, was abandoned in the 1970s and in a few years crumbled into ruins. In recent years, it has been restored as a traditional Irish cottage.
Its golden thatched roof is the work of local crafts people. The cottage and out house contain artefacts and treasures of our ancestors. It reflects a way of life that has almost disappeared. The open fire, butter churns, a dresser full of beautiful crockery and a spinning wheel are just some of the valuable treasures stored in the cottage.
An impressive display of farm machinery can also be seen. Open by appointment - telephone in advance.
