Shane’s Castle May Day Steam Rally is one of the largest Steam Events in Ireland.

Shanes Castle May Day Steam Rally is one of the largest Steam Events in Ireland and is held in the beautiful Shanes Castle Estate.

This year over forty Steam Engines & Working Steam Models are expected along with living vans, organs and machinery demonstrating how they worked in bygone times with stone crushers, saw benches, threshing & giving rides.

Hugo Duncan is broadcasting live from Shanes Castle on May Day. There wiill be a fun fair, mobile farms and Punch & Judy shows will be among the attractions for the younger and not so young visitors. The Molly and Johnny Poteen Show will be back by popular demand. This is a story of poteen making from long ago. Johnny and Molly get up to some crazy antics as they go about trying to make poteen. It is hilariously funny – a show not to be missed.

Car Displays
Vintage, classic and kit cars, classic and vintage tractors, military and commercial vehicles will fill the rally field along with motorbikes and stationery engines. There will be a variety of trade stands on the field and a Craft Marquee which is always a big attraction. A Military Campsite along with vehicles and a display from D Coy features a very interesting and informative display of LandRovers, Jeeps, motorcycles, uniforms, equipment and other paraphernalia from various wartime scenarios and will include demonstrations of firing a mortar in the main arena.

Dog Friendly
Well behaved dogs on leads are very welcome.
