Nestled in the foothills of Muckish Mountain in the wilds of the Donegal Gaeltacht in the North West of Ireland, the Song House is an inspirational retreat centre, a place to reconnect with the essentials in life.
Set in the heart of the traditional Gaeltacht area of Donegal with spectacular views over to Muckish Mountain, The Song House lies on the Wild Atlantic Way. Spectacular 4.8 Km sandy dune beaches, wide expanses of blue or stormy skies, the iconic Muckish Mountain (which translates to the hog’s back), Tory Island surrounded by a skirt of turquoise sea glinting in the evening light. There are also historical sites and Glenveagh National Park.
The Song House (Teach na nAmhrán) is a creative space that is available for hire throughout the year. Originally named The Poets’ House, it was a centre of literary activity for over 20 years with regular visitors. The house continues to be full of character, and to inspire creativity and learning. The unique history and beautiful surroundings make the Song House the perfect retreat centre.
There are five bedrooms, accommodating up to 14 people, kitchen, and large sitting room/workshop room. Organic gardens surround the property, with fruit bushes and herbs available for guests. Catering for a family’s and group holidays. The Song House is the perfect place for a trip away, to reconnect to nature, wildness, and the richness of traditional Irish culture.
