A demanding walk (requiring proper footwear) but well worth the effort.
A demanding walk (requiring proper footwear) but well worth the effort. The walk starts with a steep 700ft climb made up of around 370 steps - but there are benches to rest on and beautiful woodland to look at.
The viewpoint on the cliff top is the LoughNavar Forest Scenic Drive (GR H 062577). Views stretch for miles, from over the islands in Lough Erne, to the Blue Stack Mountains of County Donegal. On a very clear day you can see the Slieve League in southwest Donegal (about 36 miles away). On the way down wildlife is plentiful. You may come across feral goats, or many different species of birds from meadow pipits to tufted ducks. Vegetation is vast and some plant species are quite rare, for example crowberry and welsh poppy.
