Niamh McCann is an Dublin-based Irish artist whose work attempts to distill into sculptural poetry the relationship between visual culture and the created environment.

Niamh McCann is an Dublin-based Irish artist whose work attempts to distill into sculptural poetry the relationship between visual culture and the created environment. Her work has previously been exhibited in Brussels, San Francisco, Cork, and Turku in Finland.

In her new installation, Furtive Tears, McCann brings together two historical characters from the early 20th century: the Irish unionist politician Edward Carson and the German architect and set designer Hans Poelzig.

By intertwining the historical facts and the mythologies, McCann explores the very act of observing – that perpetual process of coding and decoding sensory information – within the context of a constructed landscape.
