As a part of her artist's residency, glass artist Róisín de Buitléar will host a symposium exploring the National Museum's collection of glass.
Irish artist Róisín de Buitléar is the Artist-in-Residence for the National Museum of Ireland for 2018.
Hailing from Dublin, de Buitléar is Ireland’s foremost glass artist, and has been working in that medium for over 30 years. Her work has been exhibited across Europe, the United States, and in China and Japan.
As a part of her residency, Róisín de Buitléar will host a one-day symposium in which speakers from Ireland and further afield will uncover and explore the extensive glass collection at the National Museum. Those contributing will include Dr Audrey Whitty and Nigel Monaghan from the Art and Industrial Collection and the Natural History Collection respectively.
There will also be a behind the scenes visit to Róisín de Buitléar’s onsite studio, as a part of the symposium, while the ongoing glass exhibition CAUTION! Fragile Tradition in Transit can also be viewed.
