Cashel, Connemara, Galway,
Mr Ray Doorley
Cashel House, one of Connemara's most gracious homes, is on 50 acres of grounds on the coastline of Cashel Bay with Cashel Hill behind. It is an ideal base from which to enjoy walking, beaches, fishing, golf, horse-riding and Aran Islands trips.
Cashel House Hotel overlooks the majestic Cashel Bay on the west coast of Ireland; here a traditional welcome awaits guests in this classic country house retreat. Built in the 19th century this gracious country home was converted to a family-run four-star hotel in 1968 by the McEvilly family. Situated in the heart of Connemara and nestling in the peaceful surroundings of 50 acres of gardens and woodland walks, this little bit of paradise offers an ideal base from which to enjoy walking, beaches, sea and lake fishing, golf and horse-riding.
Cashel House is located 8 miles from the beautiful fishing village of Roundstone, a beacon for artists and naturalists. The towns for Clifden and the nearby Kylemore Abbey and Gardens are less than a 25 minute drive from Cashel House. Cashel House is also the ideal location for exploring the Aran Islands.
The gardens at Cashel House Hotel are a place of profound beauty, a place of meditation and relaxation, which benefit from the warmth of the gulf steam. Take a guided tour or potter at your leisure. Benches are located throughout the garden for rest and reflection. Withdrawn and quietly secluded, the gardens are a delight with the enchanting cultivations of exotic and exquisite flowering shrubs. Guests may walk along the seashore, through woods and streams and eventually onto the summit of Cashel Hill to breath-taking views of sea, sky and coastline.
With its excellent cuisine and beautiful setting, Cashel House is an ideal place for a wedding reception or civil ceremony. The McEvilly family and the staff of Cashel House pride ourselves on the car and attention which we lavish on weddings and are always happy to assist with all requests.
In and around Cashel, guests will find numerous ways to spend their days. They can swim in the sea, go golfing, fish in the region’s famous lakes and rivers, cycle, bird watch and take scenic drives around Connemara. There is also spectacular hill walking and mountain climbing on the Twelve Pins of Connemara, which dominate the local landscape.
