We will capture the essence of Autumn in this preserving class.
We will capture the essence of Autumn in this preserving class using foraged damsons, rose hips and blackberries from the local hedges and locally grown fruit (much of it from my own garden).
You will learn all about the fundamental techniques and skills of home preserving. In addition, I will demonstrate how to make soda bread and you will be making your own soda bread and will have this to take home as well as a jar each of jam and pickles. Tea, coffee, scones and ‘craic’ to be had.
Recipes to include:
Crab Apple Jelly
Quince Jelly or Medlar Jelly ( subject to availability )
Rose hip syrup made with foraged rose hips and just the thing for a cold
Blackberry jam made with foraged blackberries
Cucumber & Turmeric Pickle
Soda Bread on which to sample all of the preserves
