4 days of music, drama, poetry, workshops and much more happening in this beautiful village

Cushendun’s Big Arts Weekend is a festival of music, drama, poetry, art, exhibitions, performance, lectures, walks, workshops and family fun in one of the most beautiful villages in the Glens of Antrim. The programme has something for everyone and many of the events are free.
By popular demand and following their previous sell out concert in Cushendun, we are delighted to open our festival on Thursday 7 May with live music from the Glens’ own indie folk band ‘Runabay.’
This year we are delighted to include NI Opera, the Grand Old Opera House, Lurig Drama Group and a host of creative artists, craftspeople and speakers who will enlighten, inform and entertain in a variety of workshops, talks and performances taking place throughout our lovely village. Sign up for ‘Share a Poem’, let your creative juices flow and create your own masterpieces, or maybe just push yourself to reach those operatic notes. There are activities suitable for all ages and levels of experience, and, for those who prefer a more passive role, or who just need a rest, we have a wide range of less physically arduous events. And, as always, our packed Sunday programme will cater for everyone in the family – even the dog!
Cushendun is a very picturesque village and well worth a visit at any time. Designed by Clough
Williams-Ellis, it has been home to many artists and writers, including Louis MacNeice and John Masefield. The beautiful beach and lovely Glendun are at their best in spring and while you’re here you might want to pop into the spectacular caves featured in the Game of Thrones. The newly restored Old Church Centre is well worth a visit and will feature as a performance and exhibition space over the weekend.

We are very proud of our village and our festival and we invite you to come and join us for this special annual event.
