From Oct 4th to 6th, the picturesque town of Dingle showcases itself to the world through its love of food. Food producers from the South-Western peninsula and beyond display the best of Irish Food in what has become one of Ireland's top food havens.
The Dingle Food Festival takes place on the first weekend in October every year in the beautiful fishing town of Dingle on the Dingle Peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way.
Locals call it ‘The Best Weekend of the Year’. The town comes alive with locals and tourists alike both young and old all for the love of good local food and drink. Everyone comes home for the Dingle Food Festival and tourists come from far and wide across the globe that weekend just for the delicious food which is guaranteed to be found.
Highlights of the festival include cookery demonstrations, over 50 market stalls, workshops, street entertainment, children's events, wine tastings, whiskey tastings and much much more.
Far and away the most popular part of the festival is ‘The Taste Trail‘. Festival goers purchase a book of taste trail tickets and can then visit over 70 venues around the town offering tastings of the best food and drink the Peninsula has to offer.
The festival in conjunction with various local organisations is aiming to make the Dingle Food Festival waste free by 2020. The festival aims to ensure all vendors on the markets and outlets partaking on the Taste Trail, use compostable packaging when serving their delicious offerings.
The Dingle Food Festival is a nonprofit festival. 'Our aim is to showcase the incredible produce the Peninsula has to offer, whilst at the same time allowing you to sample the hospitality here. The festival team is drawn from the local community and a huge thank you to all on the committee and the volunteers who help us.'
This event is part of Taste the Island.
