Scenic Carliar ferry service linking Greencastle County Down and village of Greenore County Louth.

The 38 car vessel will take just 15 minutes to traverse one of the most scenic stretches of water on the island of Ireland where you can take in the mountains, seascapes and wildlife. While onboard you cannot fail to miss the historic 13th Century Royal Greencastle Castle, the elegant tapering Mourne granite 112’ tall Haulbowline Lighthouse which stands guard at the entrance to Carlingford Lough along with the Block House and Green Islands where the seals bask. Once you depart Greencastle look across the Lough up to the medieval town of Carlingford where once Vikings occupied the land. Depending on the state of the tide you will see the oyster and mussel farms which grow the tastiest and juiciest seafood on the shores of the Lough which can be sampled in many local restaurants.

Whether you are staying in the area or taking a day trip, the Scenic Carlingford Ferry is a new and fun way to travel further and enjoy more. Why don’t you keep the wheels turning and enjoy Cooley Peninsula scenic drive, the Ring of Gullion scenic drive or Mourne Coastal Route scenic drive. Or why don’t you, arrive at the world renowned Royal County Down Golf Course in Newcastle or the mature, inland, Par 72 championship course in Kilkeel. Challenge yourself in Greenore, Dundalk, Ardee, Drogheda, County Louth Golf Club, Warrenpoint, Downpatrick or Ardglass to name a few. Thrill seeking? Why don’t you travel to the Mountain Bike trails in Rostrevor and enjoy a mountain biker’s haven. Day out with the kids? Make sure you make a splash at Funtasia in Drogheda, or get involved in outdoor pursuits at Carlingford Adventure Centre. Perhaps venture further south to Newgrange Farm, Tayto Park or Dublin Zoo. Heading further North why don’t you visit Titanic Belfast, W5, Giant’s Causeway or Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. Your options are endless when you take the scenic route.
