St Joseph’s Church was constructed in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan after the passing of the Catholic Emancipation Act of 1829. Renowned architect J.J McCarthy designed the impressive Gothic-style house of worship, which opened in 1866.

J.J McCarthy, a well known architect of the time, designed the church. It measures 46m long by 18m wide and features stained glass windows by Harry Clarke in addition to the stations of the cross by Richard King.
