Annagh Lake is located in Butlersbridge, County Cavan. It is stocked annually with rainbow trout and trout. The lake is part of the Lough Oughter system which in turn is part of the Erne River catchment which is the second largest river in Ireland.
Annagh Lake fishery is operated by Butler’s Bridge Trout Angling Co-operative. The angling season runs from the 1st of May to the 30th September and there is a 10 inch size limit and a six trout bag limit.
The lake is stocked exclusively with Rainbow Trout obtained from the Central Fisheries Board Hatchery in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.
The waters of Annagh Lake and the surrounding areas are recognised as a Special Area of Conservation under the European Habitats Directive in recognition of the diversity of habitat and species. It has been a Sanctuary Lake since 1976 which means hunting is prohibited in the area.
The boat jetty is located on southern side of the lake and a picnic/bathing area is on the northern side of the lake.
